Fun Farm at Sta. Elena

"Not all classrooms have four walls"

Children naturally loves animals and my daughter is no exception. In fact, she asks me to read books about animals every single night.

That's why I searched for a nearby farm where she can see and interact with the different animals. Because the best way for her to appreciate and learn about animals more was to visit an actual farm.

There are several options here in the south and we chose the Fun Farm at Sta Elena. And I listed here the reasons why we chose it and why you should visit too.

1. HUGE OPEN SPACE. Even if there are a lot of visitors, the place does not feel crowded at all. Children can run and play around freely. With all the buildings and malls in the city, having lots of green spaces already felt like a luxury. Trees and fresh air - There's really something about nature that makes you feel happy.

2. SAND HOUSE. Not just a sandbox...yes, it's a SAND HOUSE. Inside the sand house was a climbing obstacle where big kids can go up. My daughter is still small to climb up so she just enjoyed playing on the swing, see-saw and slide. She entertained herself  by just playing randomly with the sand for almost an hour.

3. ANIMAL RIDES. This is probably the highlight of our visit. First, she met Chocnut the carabao. It was actually her first time to see and ride a real carabao so imagine her reaction upon seeing one. She touched the skin, looked at the tongue and even tried to hold the tail. She was entertained just by simply staring at it and was even more thrilled when she got the chance to ride it.

Apart from Chocnut, she was also able to ride a horse. There are different sizes of horse available so even if your kid is still small, you can find something that is perfect for your kid's height/size. And the best part here is - animal rides are already included on the entrance fee. You can take as many rides as you want as long as you will fall in line again. I remember another place where horseback rides cost 350 for 30 minutes. But here at Fun Farm, you can ride it at no additional cost!

4. ANIMAL FEEDING. Another activity with the animals that we enjoyed was feeding them. There are fish, duck, rabbit, hamster, and pony which you can feed. You can buy fish feeds and carrots (for the rabbits/hamster) at a minimum price (around 20 if I remember it right). As for the ponies/horses, you can just get the hay lying nearby.

5. EARTH-FRIENDLY. Another reason why we love it here is because they love mother nature. Most (if not all) things used on the farm are made from recycled materials like old tires, tree barks, etc.

Apart from those above, there's also a zipline. We have not tried it because my daughter got a bit scared. Older kids and parents are allowed. It looks so fun! Maybe when my daughter is older, we can try it.

As for the food, yes you can bring your own cooked food inside. They have tents and a gazebo where guests can stay and eat. I think you can also have food delivered to you, just ask the person at the reception what fast food delivers in the area. Also, there's a dirty ice cream vendor inside and Picole pospsicles available at the entrance which is perfect for the hot weather.

Some notes and tips:
